Terms of use
Please read these terms of use before registering to access or use the Vetaid application. It was created to provide a tool for diagnostic support, training and information on cattle health.
Purpose
These terms of use define how the Vetaid application is made available and the conditions under which users may use it.
Access to and use of the Vetaid application require the user to accept and comply with these terms of use, which the user acknowledges having read in full. Acceptance is given by ticking the box before the statement: “I acknowledge that I have read and accepted the terms of use of the services.” Ticking the box is deemed to have the same value as a handwritten signature. A user who does not intend to comply with all or part of these terms must refrain from using the Vetaid application and its services.
The director of the website www.vetaid.net reserves the right to update, amend or supplement these terms of use and the attached documents.
Restrictions on use
Use of the Vetaid application and its data is limited to veterinary students and to veterinarians who are qualified or in the process of qualifying. Use on a phone or tablet is possible only after prior registration on www.vetaid.net:
- selection takes place during registration on www.vetaid.net;
- in France, the reference used to accept a registration request is the file and the SAS system set up and kept up to date by the French National Order of Veterinarians (Ordre national des vétérinaires), as defined in the agreement with the CNOV;
- similar systems for verifying veterinary status are in place for veterinarians outside France.
Use of the Vetaid application and its data is strictly personal, by the registered veterinarian, for his or her own needs. Use is restricted to the practice of veterinary medicine.
Nature of the services
The services offered by Vetaid.net consist of making available, through the Vetaid application, a tool for diagnostic support, training and information on the health of a bovine animal, exclusively for veterinary students and certified veterinarians.
This application provides information on the clinical aspects of cattle diseases, as well as information that may help a veterinarian who has already examined a bovine animal presented as sick. These clinical suspicions are accompanied by information such as:
- the diseases that may be suspected, based on the information entered in the system;
- calculation of a concordance score between the sick animal and the disease in its typical form;
- apparent inconsistencies between the animal as described and the suspected diseases;
- an approach to differential diagnosis as practised by veterinarians;
- ways to compare suspected diseases, or diseases related to the sick animal by at least one important sign;
- a description of the suspected diseases and general information on the risks of contagion to humans, to the rest of the herd or to neighbouring herds, on the economic risk, and on ways to control the disease.
None of this information constitutes a diagnosis. A diagnosis is the synthesis of this information and of any other information available to the user. That step is not carried out by the website. It may be carried out by the veterinarian.
These services are subject to these terms of use. Access to the application is free of charge.
Obligations
User’s obligations
Access to the Vetaid application, subject to compliance with these terms of use, grants the user a strictly personal right to use the Vetaid application.
The user agrees not to rent, lend or make the Vetaid application service available, even free of charge, on any basis whatsoever.
The user agrees to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and standards, in particular those relating to the prescription and use of medicines, and to comply with the rules governing animal protection, care and routine acts required for the proper conduct of livestock farming.
The user agrees not to breach or attempt to breach the IT security of the information systems of Vetaid or of its service providers.
The user shall not hinder the operation of the service or make any fraudulent use that would prevent or limit third-party access to the service or its use, on pain of being refused access to the services, without notice and without prejudice to any legal action.
The user shall not appropriate the database or the calculation algorithms, which are the exclusive property of SARL Vetfarm. Any copy is strictly prohibited.
The user agrees to inform the director of the Vetaid application, as soon as possible, of any malfunction, using the contact form available on www.vetaid.net or by email at contact@vetaid.net.
Obligations of the director of the application
The director of the application endeavours to use the means at his disposal to ensure the continuity, availability and quality of the service offered.
The director of the application agrees to intervene within a reasonable time in the event of a breakdown or anomaly that prevents access to the service, in order to restore that access or, failing that, to inform users.
The director of the application reserves the right to interrupt, suspend or modify, without notice, access to all or part of the service in order to carry out maintenance, corrections and appropriate changes to the application, or for any other reason, without compensation and without liability arising as a result.
Liability
The Vetaid application is a calculation and reference tool concerning cattle health, intended to assist a veterinary student or a veterinarian.
Vetaid endeavours to publish reliable and up-to-date information.
The information made available to the user is indicative only. Because the system can describe millions of individual cases of sick cattle, the author cannot be held liable for information that is unsuited to one or more particular cases. The director of the Vetaid application is responsible for examining cases reported as possible errors, omissions and necessary updates.
Use of the information and services offered by the Vetaid application is entirely at the user’s own risk. If a user wishes to obtain information on the particular health status of a bovine animal, it is the user’s responsibility to examine the animal and to collect observations on his or her own responsibility.
Under no circumstances are the director of the application and/or the author liable for the data entered or for the use made of the information by the user, which remain entirely the user’s responsibility.
It is recalled that Vetaid is a calculation tool that informs the user about the health of a bovine animal by proposing clinical suspicions, but does not make a diagnosis. It is for the veterinarian to make the diagnosis himself or herself. The services offered by the Vetaid application cannot replace a clinical examination by a veterinarian, who alone is authorised to make a diagnosis and to issue a prescription, in accordance with the veterinary code of ethics.
The services offered by the Vetaid application are intended to help the veterinarian user with diagnosis and to inform him or her of possible risks associated with a clinical suspicion:
- risk of transmission of the disease to humans, or to the consumer of food products from the herd or from the sick animal;
- risk of contagion to other cattle in the herd or to cattle nearby;
- risk of the sick animal’s health worsening, or of death;
- economic risk for the farm.
The services offered by the Vetaid application are not intended to replace the intervention of a veterinarian or to perform a medical act. These services are solely a diagnostic aid for a sick bovine animal and information on diseases that may affect cattle.
The director of the application and/or the author cannot be held liable for any use of the data outside the control of the veterinarian user.
The director of the application and/or the author cannot bear any loss that directly or indirectly affects the animal or animals as a result of the use of the information available in the Vetaid application.
The director of the application cannot accept liability for direct or indirect damage resulting from access to the website or use of the application, including damage, loss of data or viruses that may affect computer equipment or any other property, or from the interpretation of, or inability to use, information coming directly or indirectly from www.vetaid.net and the Vetaid application.
The user remains responsible for using, with care and judgement, the information made available on the website and in the Vetaid application. It is for each user to check that this information is appropriate to the animal or animals under his or her care.
Access to the service and registration
To access the service, the user must have internet access on a smartphone or tablet.
The costs of accessing the service, whether for hardware, software or internet access, are borne exclusively by the user, who is solely responsible for the operation of his or her computer equipment and for internet access.
Use of the application is reserved for veterinarians and veterinary students whose status has been verified. Access is free of charge. It is opened after registration and identification by means of a username and password.
Registration requires the prior recording of the user’s identity, postal and telephone details and a valid email address, using the online form, together with verification of the veterinary registration number or veterinary student status.
Once the information provided has been checked for consistency, confirmation that the account has been opened is sent to the user. The management of Vetaid reserves the right to refuse an irregular or incomplete registration request.
The director of the application reserves the right to refuse or terminate access to the service, temporarily or permanently, and to close the account in the event of a breach of these terms of use, subject to prior notice, within 24 hours, to the email address provided by the user.
The user agrees to update his or her personal information whenever it changes, so that Vetaid always has a valid email address.
The director of the application cannot be held liable for any network, server or equipment failure beyond reasonable control that makes the website temporarily unavailable.
Liability cannot be sought for any period during which the service has been interrupted.
Intellectual property
Texts, databases and illustrations may not be reproduced, distributed or modified, in any form whatsoever, without the express prior written authorisation of the publisher or of their authors.
Texts, databases and illustrations remain the exclusive property of the rights holders.
Downloading of data and documents is strictly limited to personal, non-commercial use by the user.
Vetaid is a trademark registered by Mr Gérard Argenté (INPI no. 3702570).
Unauthorised reproduction of trademarks, logos and distinctive signs constitutes trademark infringement. The infringer is liable to civil and criminal penalties, in particular those provided for in Articles L. 343-1 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code.
The director of the application reserves the right to modify all or part of the content, and the user may not make any claim in this respect.
Duration
The account is opened free of charge once registration has been approved. It remains active for as long as the user retains the status of veterinarian or veterinary student and complies with these terms. It may be closed if that status is no longer established, or in the event of a breach of these terms.

In accordance with French Law no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978, as amended, and the General Data Protection Regulation, the user has a right of access, objection, rectification and erasure of the information concerning him or her, which may be exercised:
- on the website, using the contact form provided;
- by email at: contact@vetaid.net.
Confidentiality
All searches carried out by the user on the services remain confidential and may be used only to improve those services, without disclosure to third parties.
